A Fast Order of Last Minute Father’s Day Gift Ideas

Fathers Day Coloring Page Coupons Printable-01

Free Father’s Day printables for kids to color

Fathers Day Printable Coupons-01Don’t forget dear Dad this weekend.  It’s his one weekend he gets to shine and be noticed!  I did some heavy research and found out a few things your dad and/or husband told me they/he wanted.  I’m sharing a free printable with some of these great coupons that came from my excellent sleuthing.  Have the kids color or paint them, then cut them out and slip them in his wallet or scriptures to surprise him this Sunday morning.  Or maybe send him on a treasure hunt to collect them!  He might prefer to just sit on the couch and have the kids run around to collect them.  Whichever way, they will be a great gift that he is sure to redeem in the near future!   Find all the downloads available HERE!

I also found several great ideas from the Paging Supermom website.  I love the game and the cookie prize award!  These would go great paired with the above handmade coupons.  And the best part?  The kids can be a part of the creating!  Wrap you arms around Dad’s neck and give him a book of coupons, a prize cookie and a great big kiss!

Hugs,

Relief Society Handout {Ch. 10 The Scriptures: The Most Profitable of All Study}

BlogPicHWHCh10CheatSheet-01

We’ve heard you and we here at SugarDoodle want to try something new for those Relief Society instructors requesting help.  I’m a visual learner, and do well with a take home that reminds me of the concepts learned during instruction.  And for me, even as an adult, this method of learning is still quite effective.  It’s much of why I became a doodler by trade.  This week, I’m excited to offer a handout that may help you simplify your lesson preparation, and stay clear from, as President Uchtdorf refers to as, a foolish sacrifice.  Remember his talk found HERE and the example of spending many hours stitching the title of the lesson into homemade pot holders for each member of the class?   Let us spend those hours for you, so you can spend time in the scriptures and other gospel study during your prep time.

Teachings of the Presidents of the Church:  Howard W. Hunter is our study manual this year.  I started with an upcoming lesson for June found in Chapter 10, The Scriptures:  The Most Profitable of All Study.  I shared a post a few weeks back about prayer and hard work found HERE.  The scriptures to me are right there at the top of the same list of habits to learn. Scriptures are pretty much the answer to 99% of the questions asked in our church meetings and it’s definitely one of the most basic ways we can stay happy in this life.  I absolutely loved this lesson using quotes from President Howard W. Hunter.  His ideas on scripture study are spot on.  I created a little cheat sheet for your class to refer to during or after your lesson, you decide whether you give it to them before class starts or at the end of class.  I created this first handout in black and white.  It’s a one pager, easy to copy or print off with a minimal cost.  You can color it or they can color it, doodle on it, make more notes, it’s up to them.  You might find sisters using their scripture markers or pulling out the diaper bag crayons to doodle and take notes from their own conclusions on their personal cheat sheet.  The printable can be found in the Sugardoodle Shop HERE.  You might even want to share this resource with the priesthood instructors.  The next thing you may find is they just might add a lace cloth to the table.  Study on!

Hugs,

#Hallelujah Day 10 Easter Advent Kit for Holy Week

Day 10-1Alleluia-01Day 10 of our Easter Advent for Holy Week is of course my most favorite.  It’s Easter Sunday. Hallelujah, Jesus is risen!  Play Handel’s Messiah, “Hallelujah” choir through the home to wake everyone up.  Click HERE for the recent Mormon Tabernacle Choir’s virtual rendition.  For dinner you may choose to make an alternative to the traditional baked ham and cheesy potatoes, and choose foods from the bible days such as:  Lentils, tabbouleh, Greek red Easter eggs, flatbread, lamb or many other ideas are available online.  The tablescape visuals below share all things living for this season.  Enjoy and have fun with it this year.  The flowers and plants make everything feel alive and glorious.  This has been so fun to share with you, and if you didn’t get to participate this year, think about next year.  Gather ideas.  Mark your calendar a little earlier to prepare.  I hope if you are participating, you share the two hashtags #SDEaster #Hallelujah so we can help one another celebrate a more Christ-centered Easter as families.

Cracking Eggs Game:  The rule of the game is simple. One holds a hard-boiled egg and taps the egg of another participant with one’s own egg intending to break the other’s, without breaking one’s own.

#Hallelujah Day 6 of Easter Advent Kit for Holy Week

Day 6 I Believe in Christ-01If you are following along we are on Day 6 of the Easter Advent celebrating Holy Week. I hope you are posting on our Facebook page HERE your experiences, we really would love to see them!  Tag your photos on your personal Instagram and Facebook pages using the two hashtags #SDEaster #Hallelujah.

Today’s devotional focuses on the atonement of Jesus Christ and His suffering for us because of His love for us.  Display the “I Believe in Christ” 8X10 print where you are displaying the other visuals (or you can download a larger 11X14″ file HERE).   I chose the Crimson Red Greek Eggs family activity for today to serve as a reminder of Gethsemane. There is a darling recipe printable for the Crimson Red Greek Easter Eggs showing palm leaves, red eggs and Easter lilies within the design.

The entire kit is available HERE for download if you are just learning of this week of devotionals we have available.

#Hallelujah Day 5 of Easter Advent Kit for Holy Week

Hallelujah 5 LoveOneAnotherposter-01 Day 5 shares the scripture story of the Savior washing the apostles feet.  As part of that story, the activities today focus on love and service within your family and neighbors.  You have the option of using the download of the scripture found in John 15:12, “This is my commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you”.  You can mount the printable on a posterboard so family members can share the acts of service rendered among your family all week.  And then you get to “egg” your neighbors home or someone else in need.   Share scriptures or happy messages of hope with them inside the eggs, along with homemade treats or small little springtime novelty gifts.  Maybe even consider giving service coupons that you roll up and put inside a few eggs, like “This coupon is good for one free snow shovel of your walks, a free afternoon of babysitting,  we will make you a yummy pot of hot soup and warm bread, we will bring in the garbage cans on garbage day.”  There are so many ways to love your family members and neighbors. Today be creative and serve the way your family does best, and as the Savior would. Day 5 Egged Door2blog-01Day 5 Baskethiding-01 Day 5 Grass egg-01

Remember, it’s never too late to share these devotionals with your family.  Or consider using elements of the kit in your Young Women, Primary or Relief Society lessons.  Find it available for download HERE.  Have a beautiful Holy Week!

Love & Hugs,

#Hallelujah Day 4 of Easter Advent for Holy Week

Day 4 He is Risen-01

All Photos by Amy Little

Day 4 of the Easter Advent for Holy Week is a little more involved if you are interested in studying the Jewish Passover and it’s relation to The Last Supper.  It’s quite interesting and I loved learning about the symbols and meaning behind the foods of the Seder plate.  Consider sampling different foods of the Passover.  There are many recipes online or you can just prepare them simple.  Many butchers offer a shank bone during the Passover period on the calendar, but you can always call your local butcher and pre-order it if you are interested in this portion of the outline.   Make sure you have your 8X10 print of the Matthew 28:5-6 scripture printable.  If you would like it in a larger size, it is also available in an 11X14″ separately HERE .
